Based on Jamal Ali’s acclaimed play Dark Days and Light Nights, director Anthony Simmons tells the story of a naïve Guyanese immigrant who learns the hard way about life on the streets of Brixton. An honest and insightful comic drama, Black Joy explores the lives of Black Britons and immigrants in London, featuring a superb soundtrack of soul, funk, dub, and reggae.

Featuring an introduction by writer Sukhdev Sandhu preceding the screening on May 7. Co-presented by Third Horizon and Luminal Theater.
