  • Let The Record Show: Archived Cinema
Directed by Esfir Shub

The first film in pioneering Soviet filmmaker Esfir Shub’s acclaimed trilogy, The Fall of the Romanov Dynasty uses rare archival footage from 1913 to 1917 to illuminate the lead up to the Russian Revolution. In images and scenes gathered from across the country—including footage shot by the Czar’s own film crew—Shub captures an era of upheaval as Lenin and the Bolsheviks gather momentum to destroy the old way of life.
