Director Woodie King Jr. portrays Steely Brown, a young boy living in Harlem. Brown wanders the streets of the city one night, trying to earn the $27 he owes his hard-working mother while pondering what led to his father’s disappearance. Through conversations with his neighbors, he learns lessons about Vietnam, drug abuse, marital conflict, and unemployment that lead him toward the conclusions he’s seeking.
