Erika Alexander Mid-Career Retrospective

Sep 27—Sep 28, 2024
    Part of
  • BAM Film 2024

Attending a summer program at Philadelphia’s famed Freedom Theatre at age 14, Erika Alexander auditioned alongside hundreds of other young Black and brown girls for a Merchant Ivory independent film called My Little Girl. After 12 screen tests and four auditions, she was cast in the lead role—changing the course of her life. For this exclusive mid-career retrospective at BAM, the Arizona-born actress, producer, and writer will be on hand for screenings of two celebrated films, A Long Walk Home and American Fiction, along with select episodes of her hit TV series Living Single—with Alexander providing real-time commentary live!
