Time Bandits

Nov 13—Nov 26, 2024
    Part of
  • The Extraordinary Shelley Duvall
  • and
  • BAM Film 2024
Directed by Terry Gilliam (1981)
With Craig Warnock, David Rappaport, Kenny Baker, Mike Edmonds, Malcolm Dixon, Tiny Ross, Jack Purvis, Ian Holm, John Cleese, Sean Connery, Michael Palin, Shelley Duvall

In this fantastic voyage through time and space from Terry Gilliam, a boy named Kevin (Warnock) escapes his gadget-obsessed parents to join a band of time-traveling fugitives. Armed with a map stolen from the Supreme Being (Richardson), they plunder treasure from Napoleon (Holm) and Agamemnon (Connery)—as a covetous Evil (Warner) watches their every move. With a darkly playful script by Gilliam and Monty Python cohort Michael Palin, who appears in different eras in the film alongside a never funnier Shelley Duvall, Time Bandits is a giddy fairy tale, a revisionist history lesson, and a satire of technology gone awry.
