The Hole

Just before the turn of the 21st century, Taiwan is beset by unending rain and a mysterious new disease that causes people to crawl into dark places. Living in a crumbling building with a hole in his floor, a single man forms an odd relationship with the woman who lives below him. Tsai-Ming Liang uses oddball humor and unexpected musical numbers to explore urban loneliness in one of his most original and charming films, presented here in the extended cut he prefers.
