Five friends in Cardiff, Wales, during the 1990s endure dead-end jobs, insecurity, infidelity, and aimlessness just to make it to Friday night: the starting point for a drug-fuelled weekend of partying, clubbing, bad sex, good sex, and creeping paranoia on the ecstasy-fueled UK rave scene. Directed by Welsh writer Justin Kerrigan, Human Traffic is packed with cameo appearances and time-stamped references including a famous citation of Trainspotting. “What Human Traffic truly understands,” Little White Lies asserted, “is the widespread disenchantment of a generation.”
