In 1936, Yusuf (Karim Daoud Anaya) oscillates between his rural home in Mandatory Palestine and an increasingly restless Jerusalem. Chronicling what would become the largest uprising against Britain’s 30-year colonial project in the region, writer-director Annemarie Jacir (who was last at BAM for a full retrospective in 2018) returns with her most ambitious project to date. Anchored by performances from Hiam Abbass (Succession) and Saleh Bakri (All That’s Left of You), the only feature to shoot in Palestine in the last two years arrives at a critical time.
Advance screening followed by a Q&A with Annemarie Jacir on Mar 20, followed by our run of the film starting Mar 27
