- BAM Film 2026
Directed by Jacques Tourneur (1948)
With
Merle Oberon, Robert Ryan, Charles Korvin, Paul Lukas
In the aftermath of World War II, a diverse group of train passengers band together in search of a kidnapped German peace activist. One of the only American-made “rubble films” (shot in bombed-down locations across Frankfurt and Berlin), Tourneur presents a striking image of Europe after the war. It also conveys a Pynchonian flair in its constant shifting of loyalties and geographies, akin to Gravity’s Rainbow.
