Opening Night Party: I Guess It Was My Destiny To Live So Long

Fri, Oct 23, 2026
BAM PATRONS ONLY
Join us in toasting BAM Curator and MacArthur “Genius” Hanif Abdurraqib and the many artistic colleagues joining him in the third year of his vital poetry series, I Guess It Was My Destiny To Live So Long, now bigger and bolder than ever before. Inspired as ever by the spirit of iconic Brooklyn poet June Jordan, this newest series also joins hands with an upcoming BAM milestone, DanceAfrica 50, by showcasing powerful voices from across the African Diaspora. Connect with fellow Patrons and raise a glass to these exceptional artists in a celebration of poetry’s power to connect hearts and minds.

RSVP is required. Contact BAM Patron Services at PatronServices@BAM.org or 718.636.4182 to arrange tickets.
