The Procession

Apr 15—17, 2027
The Procession
Big Dance Theater
Concept and Choreography by Annie-B Parson
    Part of
  • Winter/Spring 2027
To gather, to bond, to bind, to promise, to intimidate, to amplify, to dance—this is The Procession, presented in its world premiere by BAM favorite Annie-B Parson and Big Dance Theater.

In the beginning the earth was void and darkness was upon the earth—and then what happened? The Procession is a poetic chronology that starts at zero and ends in infinity. A group of women/femmes traverse an imagined history of an imagined world, a timeline that depicts the continuum from the primordial, to the communal, to the hierarchical, to the mechanistic, to the unknown. Choreographed with a focus on and fascination with the use of vernacular unison movement, this evolution from an earlier short work, The Oath, takes us from the soil to the sky, from dawn to darkness, from the before to the beyond.
