Devil in a Blue Dress

Denzel Washington turns up the heat as a private eye in postwar LA in this steamy mystery directed by Carl Franklin. Washington stars as Ezekiel "Easy" Rawlins, the Black private investigator featured in a series of successful crime novels by Walter Mosley. A decorated World War II hero who returns home to segregation and redlining, Easy accepts an under-the-table job to locate Daphne Monet (Beals), a woman who appears to be white and who used to be engaged to former mayoral candidate Todd Carter (Kinney). Easy is caught between the white power elite and the vibrant Black community of Central Avenue.
