I’m Not Myself Today: Films that Inspired A Different Man

Sep 13—Sep 19, 2024
    Part of
  • BAM Film 2024

This series looks at a selection of the works that influenced director and guest programmer Aaron Schimberg’s (Chained for Life, Go Down Death) acclaimed forthcoming film, A Different Man. Aspects of the filmmaker’s powerful interrogation of self-image, disfigurement, and madness are foreshadowed in towering masterworks by David Lynch, Nicholas Ray, Tsai Ming-liang, Carl Theodor Dreyer, John Cassavetes, Luis Buñuel, and many more—screening in 35mm exclusively. Along with this slate of surreal and subversive cinematic gems, BAM is thrilled to feature an advance screening of A Different Man.
